Lindsey Kovach is a professional flutist, educator, and arts administrator based in Houston, Texas. She maintains an active flute studio in the greater Northwest Houston area.  She teaches in Tomball ISD, Conroe ISD, Katy ISD, and Klein ISD in both private lesson and masterclass settings. 

 

She earned her Master’s degree in Flute Performance at Florida State University (FSU), studying with Dr. Karen Large and Dr. Mary Matthews. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the FSU Flute Studio, Ms. Kovach taught weekly applied flute lessons to undergraduate music education and therapy majors. She also served as a director for the Flute Ensemble, taught Woodwind Methods, taught Introduction to the Baroque Flute, and assisted with administrative duties. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she served as the President of the Flute Association at Florida State. 

 

Ms. Kovach is an accomplished performer, having served as principal flute for the FSU Symphony Orchestra and the FSU Wind Orchestra. In recognition of her artistry, she was awarded the prestigious Patsy Drury Hejl Scholarship for Outstanding Musical Achievement, praised by the selection committee for her “expression, fluidity, tone, and musicianship”.

Her performance career includes appearances in masterclasses for renowned flutists such as Jim Walker, Leone Buyse, Alberto Almarza, Lorna McGhee, Ali Ryerson, Eva Amsler, George Pope, and Bart Feller. She has participated in esteemed programs including Jim Walker’s “Beyond the Masterclass” and The Consummate Flutist at Carnegie Mellon University. She had the honor of performing with the 2021 National Intercollegiate Band in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and was a winner of the National Flute Association’s Collegiate Flute Choir Competition in 2022, performing at the annual convention in Chicago, Illinois. In 2024, Ms. Kovach won a spot in the Florida Flute Association’s Advanced Masterclass and was a featured soloist in a series of performances of Mozart’s Flute and Harp Concerto for schools in Thomasville, Georgia. Most recently, she won 3rd Prize in the Flute Society of Kentucky's 2025 Young Artist Competition and performed as a soloist with the Kansas Flute Society's flute choir. 

 

An advocate for new music, Ms. Kovach has commissioned two new works for flute and percussion duo. Established in 2022, her flute and percussion chamber ensemble has performed at national and regional conventions. Additionally, she is a founding member of the Cascade Wind Quintet, a Tallahassee-based chamber group committed to promoting chamber music education. 

 

In addition to her performance achievements, Ms. Kovach holds a teaching certification for teaching music in  grades K-12. With over seven years of flute teaching experience, she has served as the applied flute instructor for the Pikeville Independent School District and the Central Music Academy in Lexington, Kentucky. Her students have placed as first chair in honor band auditions and earned acceptances to summer music programs. ​Passionate about the importance of arts administration, Ms. Kovach served as the Summer Educator Coordinator for the 2025 LEAD Cooperative Program at the Wintergreen Music Festival in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. 

 

Ms. Kovach earned dual degrees in Music Education and Flute Performance from the University of Kentucky where she studied with Dr. Julie Hobbs. Ms. Kovach is a proud member of national honorary music organizations Sigma Alpha Iota and Tau Beta Sigma. As she continues her professional career, she is committed to combining her passions for performance, education, and administration to connect with audiences and students alike.
