• To come prepared to lessons with their instruments and all music/materials. 

• To provide an appropriate practice space free of distractions 

• To provide a well-maintained instrument 

• To supply method books and other materials as required

• To submit monthly payment of tuition on time

The following materials are necessary for successful study of the flute:

• Flute in good working order

• Lesson materials, method books, and solos as assigned

• Cleaning rod and cloth

• Binder

• Metronome and Tuner

• Pencils

• Music stand (for at home practice)

All students and families will receive complimentary access to the studio portal for lesson reminders,  student resources, and online payment. Log in information will be emailed to you upon enrollment. The portal can be accessed at www.lindseykovach.com under the student portal tab or at https://students.cadencecalendar.com/. Returning families, please note that the studio is using a new system this year.

Tuition is billed monthly in advance of lessons. Monthly tuition is calculated by your school district’s lesson rate and the number of lessons in each month. Tuition amounts may vary by month depending on school holidays and weeks per month.

Payment is accepted online via Stripe, which accepts all major credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and ACH. Upon enrollment, you will receive an email to securely enroll in autopay through Stripe. When enrolled in autopay, invoices will be sent and automatically charged on the 1st of the month. If you choose to opt out of autopay, payments are due by the 10th of each month. If payment is not received by the 10th without communication to Ms. Kovach, lessons will be paused until the full monthly tuition amount is received. Recurring late payments may result in termination of enrollment. All payments are non-refundable. When enrolling in lessons after the 1st of a new month, payment for that month’s lessons will be due at enrollment before the first lesson. 

Lessons that are cancelled with at least 24 hours notice are eligible to be rescheduled. Lessons that are cancelled without 24 hours notice or not attended without notice are not eligible to be rescheduled. Because tuition reserves the student’s weekly time slot, no missed or cancelled lessons will be refunded or credited. Illnesses, emergencies, and inclement weather will be handled on a case-by-case basis. If a student arrives late to a lesson, the lesson cannot be extended out of fairness to the next student.

Rescheduled lessons only occur via Zoom during an available time slot in the teacher’s schedule. To reschedule a lesson, please use the studio portal calendar to find and register for an available time. Lessons must be rescheduled within 30 days of the missed lesson. 

Please let me know about all school conflicts, including field trips, band events, competitions, assemblies, club meetings, and testing. As with other absences, I require at least 24 hours notice. With early notice about a school conflict, I may be able to move lessons to a different day or time on campus.

Once enrolled in private lessons, the student is expected to remain enrolled for the entire school year. If a student needs to terminate lessons, notice must be given in writing. Failure to give written notice by the start date of each month will result in a non-refundable tuition payment for the following month’s lessons.

Flutes require regular maintenance for students to succeed and perform at their best. Students should keep their instruments in good condition by cleaning them after each practice session and should report any functional issues to Ms. Kovach right away. It is recommended that flutes are serviced once a year by a qualified flute technician to avoid problems and costly repairs down the road. Technician references will be provided upon request.

All students are highly encouraged to take advantage of local learning and performance opportunities. A list of events, classes, competitions, and summer programs will be provided to interested students. Students are especially encouraged to participate in the Houston Flute Club’s annual Flute Fest at the University of Houston in the spring.
